Sangramdurg Fort in Chakan

Sangramdurg fort is located at the center of Chakan. It is very close to Pune-Nashik Highway. From PCMC area, it is approximately 30 km away.
Most part of the fort is damaged. A road passes through the fort. But this fort has the amazing history. Firangoji Narsala was the in charge of this fort under Shivaji’s Kingdom. He defended this fort against Mughal Warrior Shaista Khan. Firangoji had only 400 soldiers against 20,000 men of Shaistakhan. Still, he managed to defend this tiny fort for 56 days. This battle is one of the symbols of Maratha’s bravery.
